“Ohhhhh nooo” I said to myself seeing the ball go pass as I could hear Tuipulotu say “haha I am the king I am the king!” as everyone else in the line just couldn’t wait until he lost. Last week on Thursday our class went to our school courts to learn some Tennis skills.

When we arrived at the courts I was both excited an nervous at the same time. I was nervous because I hadn’t ever played Tennis in my life before but excited because it was something new to learn. Our instructor Marcel introduced himself then it was time to learn some basic skills.

The first thing we did was all get a racket and ball and line up on one side of the court. Marcel then said to that we had to put our hands in a certain position so that the ball wouldn’t roll down. so we all started hitting the ball up an down to see how much we could get without the ball falling.

“Stop” Marcel said when we he told us to stop we had to hug our rackets so that we wouldn’t be tempted to play with it. Moving on we choose a partner an stood at the opposite sides of the net. My partner was Tamara(my best friend) I throw the ball to her and she would just hit it back.

It was finally time to play Tennis. Everyone separated in to six different lines and started playing a quick game. I was now at the front of the line just waiting until the someone lost. I stood up by the net. Serving the ball trying to act like I was professional then the ball came back over an I completely missed it was so funny but embarrassing at the same time. On my next turn I actually did quiet well. At the end the winner on our line was Ronald(Classmate).

Playing Tennis for me was a new experience and I really enjoyed it even though at the end of the session I was completely exhausted. I cant wait to learn more about tennis at our next session!

CAMP! (Willow park)

“LETS GO LETS GO!” my aunty keep shouting “WAIT UP I'M COMING!” I replied as I double checked I had everything. Me and Athena (my cousin) rushing in the car so excited to finally be going camp.

On Monday the 10 of October our riverside club were very lucky to be going to camp at Willow park. When we arrived at the camp we all got our gear out of the bus and the trailer and met in the dining room. Everyone had finally arrived so Mr Burt started talking an telling us the rules. Then it was time for the more exciting part we had to get in to our groups. Our groups name was GWS(girls with swagg).

It was our time for our first activity. It was an activity that would help us get to know the place.
All the teams were given two sheets each on the sheets were the places we had to find and mark on a map. The challenge was extremely hard because no one really knew were to start. But at the end we came 3rd!

At camp I had more than one highlight for the whole camp. I had two one of them was a game called GYOB(get your own back). The game is a way to get all the older leaders back and they can get us. We do this by throwing rotten food,mud dirt and other disgusting stuff. My favourite part of the game was getting mud in our principles face. My low light of this game is when its finish and it takes probably a week to get everything out of your hair!

My second highlight was the disco. After our concert we got to have a disco. It was fun because everyone was actually dancing and laughing. My low light of the disco was that we had to stop at 10pm because of the neighbours but besides from that it was one of the best disco’s i’ve been to.

Going to willow park for the first time I really wasn’t sure if it would be fun our not. But I actually cant wait to go next year. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that organised it and that actually allowed us to have this camp it was a great experience for all of us!

In class everyone had to do an MI test(Multiple Intelligence test). This is a survey that show you what smarts you are good at and not so good at. My results show that my strongest smart is music smart. But the thing I need to work on is my number smart!

My Cousin!

My cousin Athena. She always has her bushy hair tied in a bun, She is tall and loves to tease me about being short. One thing that is kind of embarrassing for me is that she loves to wear her socks and Jandals. If it wasn't for my Nana she would properly live in them.

The most annoying thing about my cousin is that she is very loud. Even when your right next to her its like shes screaming at you. Another thing that I don't like about her is that she loves to sleep every morning and I have to wake her up to tell her to get ready.

One of her favourite hobbies are rugby. The thing she likes most about rugby is that we get to tackle people. She also loves to EAT! Even when shes not hungry she will eat it like she cant stop. One of the only things we have in common is that were always laughing even when a joke is dry we laugh! we practically laugh at anything.

We always get in trouble when we argue.I always tease her and she always hits me. “Are you stupid” are one of my nana’s most common sentences. She always says that to us to make us keep quiet but it just makes us laugh.

Even though we may argue and tease each other we are still family and are more like sisters than cousins!

A day outside!

“Hurry up Hurry up!” most of my team kept on saying with Tamara(my friend) shouting at the back saying “don’t squeeze the sponge you might waste the water!”. I ran to the next bucket nearly slipping along the way. Yes I thought to myself as I quickly put the sponge in the bucket and passed it on over my head.

Last week on Tuesday our Intermediate block all walked down to the bottom field to play some silly games. If your thinking what do I mean by silly games? well our four senior teachers set up four totally different games. Every 15 Minutes our teams would swap. If your asking why did we do this? It was just to go outside and have fun for a change.

Out of all the silly games we did my favourite was Tiggy with Ms Langitupu(one of our senior teachers). It wasn’t like normal Tiggy it was kind of like ball Tiggy but different. We had to keep within the cones and weren’t aloud to move if we had the ball so this game required a lot of team work.

When we started playing Tiggy I was quite confused. Kalim(one of my team members)passed the ball to me I looked right then left but didn’t know what to do. I asked “What are we surppose to do?” He replied “pass it I quickly passed it and started running around like I actually knew what I was doing when in fact I didn’t. The reason this was my favourite game is because although i didn’t know what i was doing it was funny seeing people pretend like they didn’t get out.

At the end of all our silly games I was soaked because Tuipulotu(someone in my class) thought it would be funny to throw a whole bucket of water on me. If were where to do the silly games again I would wont to try my hardest to win at least one of the games. But at the end of the day everyone had fun and enjoyed it. I cant wait until we play next time!

Maths whizz

In our maths classes we have been using a program called Maths Whizz. We all try to go on at least 20 minutes a day so that it can improve our maths. It is also good for our teachers because they can see our results and how well were doing. The picture at the top shows my results and how I have been doing I hope to get better by the end of the year.

My highlight of this term has been having Ms M on Wednesday because we get to do art and learn about famous artist. My personal achievement of this term has been playing rugby 7's and getting a try.

I am really excited to see what our theme for next term will be and who our next rugby game will be against.

Every Wednesday a teacher named Miss M comes and takes our class. This term our main focus has been about art. We have been learning about a famous Samoan artist named Fatu Feu’u.

We began by finding out about Fatu Feu’u. I found out that he was born in 1946 in a village called Poutasi Felealii. He went to Apia Samoa College and moved to New Zealand to study art in 1966. He also holds both a Ali’i title and a Tulafale title.

Then we started looking at his art work. We took inspiration from it and used some of his design. The first painting we did some research on was called ‘Conserve for Tomorrow’. But my favourite painting I saw was ‘Pacific Conference’. I took the picture and tried to make it into my own.

Creating our drawing was the easy part.We had to draw four designs and chose the best. I finally finished my design but it unfortunately it was missing so I had to use the stencil to finish off Ieremus’s drawing. Three Wednesdays had gone by and I had finally finished off the picture. I was very pleased with the final outcome.

It has been both fun and exciting learning about these artist and taking inspiration from their drawings. I hope that next term when we move on to another task it would be even better than this!!!

This week our class was given a task to research about anything having to do with technology that has developed over time and is now useful to a lot of people. I decided to do research on the camera.

I have discovered that John Strognofe was the inventor of the first camera. He was born on the 15Th of April in 1481 and he invented the first camera 1685.The invention was created in USA. He created it so that he could capture an event in time.

Today cameras have developed a lot sense then cameras have become more and more advanced. Know they are portable and last longer. They also have better mega pixel and the pictures know have colours.

It was really hard researching about cameras because it tells you a lot of different answers. But luckily I eventually found and answer I hope that you have learnt something about cameras by reading my post!!

rugby training

Last week when all of the rugby girls gathered on our main field for our training. Unfortunately I had forgotten my training clothes. The exciting thing was that we were going to find out who was in the sevens team. Crossing my fingers I finally heard my name I was so happy!

It was time to start our training Bobbi and Miss Lagitupu(our coach’s) split us into two groups which were forwards and backs. The main part of rugby we are focusing on is tackling and quick passing. The technique we are learning for tackling is check to check.My favourite part of rugby is tackling and getting the ball.

It was the exciting part of our training we got to play a game. Unfortanetly the other team scored and easy try and then another. Our team started to get really frustrated. It was our turn with the ball we passed it down the line and it finally got to me. I started to run and when I was nearly at the try line when I got tackled. The other team got the ball at other people in my team started to really get in to tackling.

It was time to finish up I was so exhausted. Our team lost 0-3 but hopefully next time will be different. I cant wait until our next game.

Fatu Feu'u

Today we have been researching about a Samoan artist named Fatu Feu’u. We have taken one of his painting and tried to turn it in to our own. I drew and observed on his paining named Pacific conference. I had finish my drawing but unfortunately it has disappeared some how. I hope I will find it.

Our egg drop challenge

Room 20 were given a co-operative challenge to complete.It was an egg drop. We were a limited amount of resources they were 8 ice block sticks,a strip of cello tape,10 straws and obviously a egg. In my team was Tamara and Kalim.

Our team was thinking of a unbreakable design so Kalim started to make a plan. Eventually we got up to the part of making it. We built a barrier around the egg using the sticks and straws so that it would absorb its impact. Then we used the tape to make it all stick together.

We had finally completed the task. Our egg was ready to be dropped. Kalim stood in front of the tarpaulin. When it dropped we quickly went to check if it had made it. We were all excited when we saw that our egg had survived. Our end result was really good and I hope next time it can be even better.

Interior angles of a triangle!

My holiday at China!!!

Ready set go hearing my mum shout out “I’m gonna beat you!” racing down the track as fast as I could hoping I wouldn't crash into anything. The race had finished I had came in 3rd place I shouted out “Yay” laughing at my mum because she came 2nd to last.

These holidays I was lucky enough to go to China. We arrived at China at 8:42 it was the most tyring trip ever being stuck on a plane for 12 hours. I was so excited to finally see my little brother and sister.

Arriving home I was so exhausted crashing out on the couch. Waking up in the morning it was 1time to explore china. The first place we went was to see the ruins of St.Pauls. The scariest thing that I saw was all of the past Priests’ bones they were inside loads of glass boxes. It was one of the most exciting I saw!

My highlight of my holiday was going to the biggest wave pool in the world. It was funny because I was diving into the waves and the lifeguard thought I was drowning!He asked me “Are you alright?” Then I just started laughing. It was one of the best swimming pools I have ever seen.

Going to China was so exciting and was the best trip I have been on. I cant wait to go again!!

School picnic!

Lying down thinking what should I do watching everyone around me playing sports. It was a beautiful day the sun was shining and everyone seemed to be having fun.But still I did not know what to do.

It was a normal Friday with one exception it was that time of the year for a school picnic. When I arrived at our school everyone was fulled with excitement. We rushed into our class lines and got ready to go to the Pt England reserve.

When we arrived Mr Burt told us the instructions. Then we were free to do what ever we liked.

Me and a couple of friends decided to just relax under a tree. It was early into the day when I decided to just sit down and relax under a tree. I was almost asleep until someone thought it would be funny to poor cold water on my foot. I was so annoyed but couldn't be bothered to do anything about it.

The highlight of my day was getting to catch up with friends. I also enjoyed not having to do work for the whole day.

Over all my day wasn’t to bad. If I could change anything I would probably choose to get involved in some activities instead of just sitting down.It so sad to say its my last Pt.England school picnic ever and hope all is well for next year.

CAMP TC!!!!!

I sat on the end of the Dunker asking the instructor “do i really have to do this?” as she replied “yes” I was so tired and couldn’t wait until this activity was over. I was so nervous seeing people try to get me down. After two minutes of waiting I was so glad that we had run out of time. Coming out of the Dunker hearing my team saying “far that’s not fear your the one who told us we had to go “ i just stood there laughing(as usual).

Yes it’s that time of year camp is finally here. Our school camp is an annual event held on our school grounds. This year it was different because it was our first year 7&8 camp ever! I was so excited to see what our new activities were going to be.

My highlight of day 1 at camp was the movie night. The movies were Despicable me,Willow and Toy story 3.I went to Despicable me. My favourite part in the movie is when the little girls get adopted by and evil man and manage to turn him good and become a real family.

It was day 2.Which meant getting ready for the concert. I was so nervous because my group had absolutely nothing for our item. We tried and tried to make something up but it was just no use everyone was playing around and wouldn't listen. Finally our group teacher Miss Tito came to help us. We finally had an item to do.

It was time to perform I was so nervous walking on to the stage everything was going good so far.Until a idea of bringing the teachers up to dance with us didn't really work out. The best part of our concerts was seeing every ones performances.

My highlight of camp was playing with my friends and making new one’s. It was so fun getting to know everyone better and being able to co-operate in my group.

I had a great time!!, if I could change anything it would probably be to listen more so we could actually get our item done. Sadly it was my last year 7&8 camp ever but I cant wait until our year 8 camp!!

My highlight of camp TC was the Dunker because everyone in my team got wet except for me I was so glad hearing my team(the collaborators) saying “gosh your the one who told me to go on” and me just laughing. The most valuable lesson I learn't at camp was how to co-operate with people I have never worked with before.

How to build a Tent

Instructions
1.Firstly Unpack the tent and check that all the necessary equipment is in the bag.ie.tent,fly,18 pegs,3 poles,inner tent, base and eyelit.

2. secondly you will need to take out the inner tent and the fly (the fly is wrapped up inside the tent) and then lay it out on the grass.

3.Then take out the 4 pegs that you are using and the poles that are unconnected . Next put any equipment you are not using aside by the bag

4. Grab four of the pegs from the bag. After that grab the hammer and hammer in the pegs into the eyelit, make sure the pegs are on a about a 45 degree angle(so they wont come out). When you are hammering insure that you pull the corners tightly and then hammer them in.
Then repeat this on every corner.

5. Connect the poles then see which two are longer . When you find the two long poles put it over the tent and clip it in on the eyelit. After the poles are over ,tie it to a little string on the apex of the tent.

6. You then put the fly(cover on the outside of the tent)on top of it and make sure you put the door in the right place. When that is finish you insert the last pole in to the front of the tent.

7.When you are finished inserting the pole you have to repeat the way you put it in before and remember to put it back the on a 45 degree angle.

8.Then your tent will be done and ready to sleep in!

In our class we have been learning about statistics. To see what we can do I have created a form to see what is every ones favourite colour. With the results from the test I have created a graph using an application on google docs.

My graph shows that most people in our class liked purple. I was surprised because i thought blue would be the most popular colour but only 20.7% of our class liked it!!

Taonga time

We all gathered in the Street(the middle of our Intermediate) to get ready for Toanga time. It was our first time ever having Taonga time their for I didn’t know what to expect everyone was chatting excitedly an you could hardly hear what anyone was saying. Finally the teachers came and helped everyone get organised.

The time had come to go to our Taonga time classes. I was stuck with Mr J in the music room. We all had to make a new project in Garage band(garage band is a computer program which lets you create your own music). We had to add a Bass,strings,guitar and other beats to make a track we had a variety of options to choose from . When we were about to finish up I got really frustrated because my work unexpectedly just disappeared I quickly tried to memorized all of my tracks.

At the end of the session I was so relived that I managed to get my tracks all in the right place. It was fun learning more about music. I had a fantastic time and cant wait to see what Mr J has in store for us next week!

A disastrous tragedy

On Tuesday a horrible tragedy occurred in Christchurch. People are terrified due to the Earthquake. Building's have been demolished and lives have been lost. Everyone around New Zealand is shocked by this unexpected event and are waiting to hear from family members.

I hope that everyone will hear from there families that they are all safe and that over time the aftershocks will stop and they can start repairing. I am so glad that it didn’t happen in Auckland and hope it never does!

A trip to the movies

Jumping out of bed so tired I struggled to stay up. It was time to go to the movies with my family. I was racing trying to get ready as my cousin kept on saying “hurry up Bobbi!”. I was finally ready taking a deep breath as I ran to the bus stop, amazed that we even made it there in time.

We arrived at the movies looking at the session times. Previously we had seen adds of a movie called Tangled it looked funny so we all agreed to watch it . It was about a princess named Rapunzel shes was kidnapped by an evil lady that raised as her as her own but only wanted her because of her magical hair that could heal people and even make them younger!! I was amazed when I saw her hair glow!!. At the end the evil lady dies and Rapunzel lives happily ever after with her parents and ends up getting married.

At the end of the day I was amazed at how great the movie. If i had to rate the it out of ten I would give it a eight. I had a great time and I hope they make a part two!

This year our school has been so lucky that we have received brand new Netbooks. When we first arrived a school everyone was so excited to finally be getting these amazing devices. We all explored our Applications to see how everything worked. Me and my friend took a picture to see how good our webcam is .I cant wait until we finally get to take these devices home!!

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who put there time and hard effort in to getting the Netbooks for us!!

The Prize Giving

Yesterday I was so excited and nervous at the same time. It was Pt England School's prize giving. I did not get a prize but I was going to sing a song with Kalim and Sam. The worst thing was that at the beginning I had to do a solo for the first verse.

We all entered the hall and sat down the first group to perform was the Kapa Haka group they were amazing. They sang beautifully I was amazed. It was time for me,Sam and Kalim turn to sing I was so nervous I could feel my legs shaking.

My favourite was the team 4 boys who did a remix and added different types of dance like Tectonic and Hip hop.

At the end of the day I was proud of myself for getting up and singing in front of a huge audience for the first time. But I was also disappointed in getting two nominations for rugby team spirit and sportswoman but not getting a certificate.... there is always next year!!

Last day of tech

Today was our last day of tech it was time for our final projects we have been working on our. It was to create our own pizza. Our pizza had to have Mozzerella chesse, pita bread,pasta sauce,herbs and 4 toppings of our choice. I called it meat surprise This was my recipe!!

Equipment
Measuring spoons
desert spoons
chopping boards
small bowl mushrooms2 knifes(use different for veges & meat)

Ingredients
1pita bread
50g of mozzerella chesse
1Tbsp of pasta sauce
Herbs(only a pinch)
mushrooms
bacon
Mince
olives1tbsp oil

Method
Pre-heat the oven 180.C Cut mine then make it into tiny meatballs.(you can mix herbs inside the mince)Add one table spoon of oil into frying pan then fry mince.(cheak if it is cooked on the inside by poking a hole and cheaking if it is red or not)leave meatballs in a small bowl well cutting up your mushrooms&bacon.spread pasta sauce around the pita bread and add all the toppings in witch ever order you like and finsih it of with a topping of chesse.leave in oven for 10-15 min.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Heka for having our year seven classes every week and teaching us how to cook. I have really enjoyed it and I hope that you will teach us next year!!

Market Day

This week our class & rm19 had a awesome experience. It was the first time I had ever been in a market day.When I got here in the morning everyone looked frustrated as they ran around trying to set up there stall and finish the rest of their product.

On market day our theme was around bugs my group(Tamara & Kezia) were making Insect birthday and Christmas cards. Me and Tamara got our stall ready and started to wait for the people to buy our product.

It was time for ever class to come past and see our product I was really nervous because I thought we no one was going to buy our product. Luckily we did sell some at the end of the day our group made $7.50.

But counting all the group classes made around $490.00. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Nua & Miss Tito for helping us with our projects and giving us a chance to show the school what us year sevens can make!!I hope we have a chance to have another Market day.

A day for champion

I was last in line when I heard one of my friends say “Bobbi its your turn.” I stepped up to the mark.With the ball in my hand. I could feel my legs tremble I threw the ball as far as I could . I was so glad when Miss T told me I had won second place.

Yes! it was Pt England schools Athletics day(Athletics is when you do a bunch of events like Discus, Softball,Sprints and a lot of other stuff). Every year we put on a display of events to see to see who are the elite Athletes. At our school we are divide in to four house groups called Matatua,Te arawa,Takitimu and the best group of all Tanui.

After my cunning win of second place of with the softball throw it was time for Shot put. Having never came a place in shot put before I was nervous. This time I was one of the first people up. I put the ball by my ear as tension was growing hearing people cheering me on. Finding out my throw was good enough for 2nd place.

It was time for the event I had been waiting for I stood feeling a slight breeze run through my body really nervous listening to Mr Burt(Our Principle) Saying on your marks. I stood shaking as some people wanted to keep making us start all over again. It was time to get serious Mr Burt said on your marks get set BANG!! I sprinted down the track with the wind blowing through my face. Winning all my heats making it to the finals.

It was time for the finals I could fell mixed emotions as the Y7(year7)11year old girls were up. I ran down the track as fast as I could. My running was good enough for 1st in my 75 and 100 meter race.

The thing I liked most about Athletics was having a lot of fun and winning five certificates(1st in 75and100 meters,2nd in softball,2nd in discus and 3rd in shot put).I hope that when we find out the final results Tainui will come out on top for 2010 athletics. I can not wait until inter-zones!!

This week our school(PtEngland) was very fortunate to finally claim our netbooks. Our class and Romm 19 are so lucky because we are the first classes in our whole cluster that get to trial these netbooks. I cant wait to find out new things and have heaps of fun at the same time.

We have tried a application calledhave tried a new application called cheese. We have taken a picture to show how well our computer works. I would like to say a huge thank you to Dean farmer,Mr Burt and everyone else that made it possible for us to reiceve these Netbooks.

Totara Springs

My favourite part of the year has always been the holidays. No work just going places and sleeping in.

This holiday I was fortunate enough to go to a camp named Totara Springs with our Riverside club. On the way there I was so excited to do all the activities from last year again.

When we arrived at camp the first thing we did was go to our cabins. Georgia and Tapunu’u(our leaders) got us organised.

he next thing we did was go to the lecture theatre. As we entered I saw everyone and thought it was going to be a hard competition this year. Every year at Totara Springs there is a competition you have to sit up and be good to collect fake money and who ever gets the most wins. Pt England is well known because all of our teams won last year(senior and a junior girls and boys).After that we went back to the cabins we worked on our booklets(gives you points) so that we can defend our title as best cabin at prize giving.

They introduced the new speaker for our camp. His name was captain Eric. He was really cool and fasinating because he used magic to make it interesting to learn about god.

It was finally time for our prize giving we were so nervous. Everyone quickly went to the lecture theatre. They said thank you to a couple of people and then it was time to see if we had defended our title as best senior girls cabin. They announced the junior girls first as the camp co-ordinator said “it goes to Pt England“ all of us started cheering. They were finally announcing who won out of the senior girls. We were so nervous we crossed our fingers as they said Pt England school all our teams stood jumped up and started cheering. It was time for the junior and senior boy to hear if they won. Obviously Pt England came out on to again defending our title as best cabins. At the end of the night we sang to the lord for the last time at camp as the next day it was time to go.

My favourite part of camp was GYOB!!(get your own back) it is when you are aloud to put mud, water and other yuck stuff on our leaders the best thing is that I got to tackle my principal (Mr Burt ). I cant wait until I go next year!!

FIA FIA NIGHT!!

After five weeks of practising we finally had the chance to show off our talent to our to families. As I heard Mr Burt shout out “Welcome everybody to Pt England school’s 2010 Fia Fia night!”I was so nervous. I was in Rm 17 watching every one’s performances. There performances were awesome.

We were nearly up I was even more nervous then before. While we were waiting on the side I could hear the choirs beautiful singing as the crowd happily sang along. It was Glee’s turn to go up and perform I had a mixed bag. I stood there waiting for the bell when I heard my family shout out “GO BOBBI!”. I wasn’t nervous when I started performing but I could still feel does butterflies. My favourite part of Glee’s act was when we did our final song because it gave everyone in the glee group a chance to show of there moves.

Our Fia Fia night was amazing and jamed packed with dancing,singing and acting. I hope all the families that came had a blast. I can’t wait until next year’s production!!

Jesse Martin's amazing solo journey

When Jesse Martin was 17 he set sail to be the youngest person to sail the globe. His dream was amazing and he was amazing and he was very determined to accomplish it.

Jesse Martin was born was born in the back of a Kombi van on the outside of Munich on August 26,1981. His parents names are Louise and Kan. His parents were hippies when they separated. Jesse and his younger brother beau lived with the mum.

Growing up Jesse Martin was like each other person with a lot of dreams. Surprisingly sailing wasn’t one of them until he was thirteen. Everyone thought he was crazy. His meteorologist(the branch of science concerned with the processes and phenomena of the atmosphere) Roger Badham told him to call David Adams to see if he would change his mind but it only him wont to go even more.

On December the 8th 1998 Jesse Martin set sail on his journey as 20,000 people watch him leave.When he wassailing he didnt have any clue for how to work the sails. When he was departure his attempt but it didn’t start until Port Philips Heads.

Jesse went on his trip early for two reasons. Its because a man named David Dicks might break the record before he dose. Also so he could come back before his birthday.

Jesse’s journey was amazing and packed with adventure and not much shower. Jesse came back to Australia on the 5th of January 1999. It took 328 days.

Jesse was a great sailer that believed that you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it. I hope there will be a lot more teen mariners like him!!

Over 50 kg VS Year 7 girls

Today we were ready to set off for another exciting game against Viscount Intermediate. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the weather earlier this week. But we did not care instead we versed our over 50 kg boys team. We got ready into our uniform nervous and thinking we were going to lose. Our coach's(Mrs Flavell and Bobbi) gave us some words of encouragement.

It was finally game time as we set up on the field our captain's trying to get organise as some people were mucking around. It was time to get serious the ball was let out as their forward pack came crushing down we all helped and someone rip the ball and passed to Etta scoring the first try of the game.

At the end of the game we came out with a cunning win 3 trys to 1. I think the best tacklers of the game were Racheal and Mauina because they took down a really big person(Richard ). But my favourite parts of Rugby is getting tackled and tackling.Having that game has boosted my confidence and I can't wait to have that match with Viscount!!

Life education

This term we went to the Life Education caravan. We learnt about how smoking can affect your body. Lyn (the lady that taught us in the caravan) also told us that cigarettes have 4000 chemicals and 200 can cause cancer. Some of the chemicals are white ant poison, nicotine, rocket fuel and floor cleaner.
But the most important thing we learnt was to do with making choices. Lyn showed us a video of what a girl did when she was given a smoke. Here is a movie made by,Rachael,Tamara and I.

I disagree that the drinking age for teenagers,Should be lowered from 18 years to 16 years because there will be more accidents. People will think there solid and drink and drive. A couple of years ago my auntie p passed away in a car crash by KFC in Glen Iness because she was drinking and driving. That is why they should actually put the age up to twenty years and if anyone under twenty is drinking they should be fined. That is my opinion on if they should lower the age our not.

It was 1 in the morning. The stars were bright and the moon was shining.

Until I felt a light breeze, then I heard a big "BOOM!" my eyes opened wide. I could feel the the ground shaking, I looked outside and saw lava flowing down from Rangitoto.

Everyone was screaming - we could feel a mixed bag of emotions. Ash was pouring down and destroyed my family's house. We rushed to the car crying as we saw dead people.
we drove out of the city nearly burning to death.

We were so glad to make it out alive.
I hope we are never near a volcanic eruption again!

Mt Eden

Mt Eden is one of the volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic Field. It has a really popular park and is a key stop for tourist. Mt Eden has a complicated scoria cone structure with three main craters. Volcanologist (scientist that study volcanoes)say that Mt Eden our any of the other Auckland volcanoes are unlikely to erupt again which means its extinct.

Our rugby game against Henderson

There I was sitting in the car shivering waiting for our game. While we were in the car we were chatting about how nervous we were and how we couldn't wait to tackle someone.

When we arrived at Henderson Intermediate we thought that our game was going to be easy but it wasn't.

Everything started to get nasty the girls on the other team started pulling hair and defending the wrong way.

At the end of the we lost but at least we tried our best and never gave up. I think that we did really well I am so proud of myself because I got player of the day for the first time ever. I CANT WAIT UNTIL OUR NEXT GAME!!

At 5:05pm last night at the Ami courts we played a netball game. The team we played against were named Royal Oak. We did really well and won by one point the score was 14-15. I am so glad because Mrs Nua said that we are in the top three in our grade. I cant wait to play next week!!

Volcano Report

people might think what is a volcano. Volcanoes are mostly shaped like a cone. When a underwater volcano erupts it can cause a Tsunami . volcanologist(scientist who study volcanoes) say there are more than 1500 active volcanoes in the world.

A volcano is formed on edge of the plates. As the plates crash we can feel shifting in many ways. Like through earthquakes and volcanoes.

A volcano eruption occurs by the mantle getting to hot(The mantle can go up to 4000 Degrees Celsius). Mantle has magma in it. When the mantle gets to hot,plates collide then the magma goes through the earths cracks and explodes. That is whey I think volcano in Latin mean 'break out'.

There are three main different types of volcanoes in the world . They are called cinder cone,Strato and shield volcano.

Shield volcano

Shield volcanoes are one of the three different types. The shield volcanoes are shaped like a ancient warriors that is where it got its name. The distinctive features are its flat bottomed craters and shallow sided mounds. Its low-silica magma produces long lava flows. Most shield volcanoes are also found on crust.

Strato volcanoes

Strato volcanoes are really famous. Mt Vesuvius,Mt St.Helen's and Mt Fuji are Strato volcanoes. A strato is really explosive of ash and cinder its magma is also terribly viscous. They also have layering of ash,lava and has steep walled craters.

Cinder cone

The cinder cone is one of the most common volcanoes in the world. Cinder cone volcanoes explode and sputter out fragments called cinders(That is where it got its name). They are important to us because

cinder cones are all around Auckland.

Most recent eruption

The most recent eruption has been really terrible. It has caused people to sleep in airports and has delayed a lot of flights. Now that the volcano in Iceland has calm down everything in airports are back to normal.

Conclusion

Even though eruptions can look really fascinating. They are dangerous and all over the world.

My first Netball game

Ms Tito said "lets go," now I was feeling so excited as we jumped into cars and headed up to the courts. We were going to our first netball game for the 2010 season. I was so nervous because it was my first game ever.
The position I played was GD(goal defence).

Before we started our game we did a little warm up. Then the Game had started.
As soon as the whistle blew everyone ran up to the ball like it was the last cake on earth. As the ball was getting closer to me I got more nervous by the minute. The ball had finally came to where I was Playing. When I was defending the ball my confidence built up.
At the end of the game I was so tired that I was gasping for air.
We lost 16-7 our player of the day was April. I was really proud of myself and I cant wait until our next game!!!

Ice Skating

"Yay" I whispered to my friend. I was so excited as I entered the room it felt like I had suddenly entered a giant freezer. I zipped up my jacket tightly and wished I had worn my gloves. Yes it was my first time ever Ice skating. When I started Ice skating I was starting to get better until, my cousin threw ice t me causing me to slide ungracefully across the chilly rink. As I stood up it felt like a heavy breeze had hit me. By the end of the day I felt like I was skating like a pro. Im looking forward to going Ice skating again.

As we sat down waiting on the ground I asked Ms T "what are we doing?" she said "its a surprise for us". When we entered the room my I was so excited, we were doing dance lessons with Urban Beat. My highlight of the dance lesson was when we had a dance battle We had two teams of girls and boys. there was a little girl that seven years old she was a amazing dancer when she jumped in our dance battle she defeated Jonty it was funny. At the end the boys won. I hope they come back next time!

I stood at the edge shacking.I was so terrified. I knew I had to jump off the bridge sometime. I shuffled forward with all my gear on ready to jump. It was time for the countdown 5,4,3,2,1. I screamed as the wind blowed on my face. I had butterflies. My heart was pounding so fast.

I was finally down the bottom take deep breaths I was glad and proud that I did it. Getting of I was so excited I ran down and said yay! I wish I could do it again.

Yes! I shouted it was my first year at Point England INTERMEDIATE. It was time for our first assembly. We had to see what class we were in I was so nervous my hands were sweating.

When we sat down Mr Burt said "WELCOME BACK PT ENGLAND SCHOOL!". Everyone was so tired from the holidays and could hardly talk.

I was so excited it was time to see what class we were in. As I heard Mr Burt say my name I was said "yay!" I finally was in Mrs Nua again.

My Zinger Pinger

My Zinger Pinger is the best pet in the world because when I saw her for the first time, she looked like she'd come from heaven, so I called her Nevaeh.

Now that she has grown bigger, she grants my every wish when I rub her tummy. Once, she granted my wish that dragons could come to life. It was a disaster. They started to set fire to homes, trees and even people. Our town was nearly destroyed. Luckily I could wish everything back to normal.

Nevaeh and I love going to the beach to surf. She always packs our favourite meals, like strawberry dipped in chocolate sauces and banana chips with yogurt.

She can also fly. I sit on her back and she keeps me warm by covering me with her wings. We have been to a lot of countries. We are hoping to go to Paris this year. Her favorite country she has gone to is Japan with all the enchanting views from the mountain tops.

Today she is going on a audition for a musical. She wants to become a superstar.

Nevaeh has just text me she has made it in the audition. She also has the lead part. Their first act is in Paris. That is why my Zinger Pinger is the best pet in the world.

Exciting video conference

This week on Wednesday our year 5&6 Extension class had a exciting video conference with an

famous geologist named Hamish Campbell. It was exciting to see him again. We were all nervous.

In the beginning we were a little bit shy. But as he started talking about the earthquake we started to think of some questions to ask.

When he told us about the seismometer. We showed him our one made out of paper. He was so impressed when we showed our example.

Here is a picture of some of us working on it.

Then he said about New Zealand moving 35 cm closer to Australia and lasted 30 seconds. He said it was the biggest earthquake in 87 years. But on July 28 1976 at 3:42 am that there was a report that at Tangshan China on the northeastern there was a magnitude of 7.8 242,000 people died. It was like the one here luckily no one died at the end.

We really learnt a lot.

Blue Whale Report

Blue Whale

The blue whale is a sea creature. There are different kinds of whales.

Blue whales are not only the largest sea creature they are also the largest known creature on this planet. The biggest blue whale ever measured was a female,who weigh over 190 tonnes and was 33.5 meters long. Blue whales got their name from their colour.

Blue whales give birth to some of the largest babies in animal world. New born calves are 7 to 8 metres long and can weigh up to 4 tonnes. Blue whales and other whales eat fish. But Blue whale calves drink over 350 liters of fat rich milk gaining up to 90 kilograms.

Unfortunately the blue whale is now one of the earths many endangered species. I hope people look after these blue whales.

Camp Aratika

Last week we went to camp.Our camp was called camp Aratika.Our crew was called Honest crew. First we went to rock climbing. At rock climbing they had new climbing walls they were really tall. I made it up four climbing walls I was soproud of my self. Then we had to sit down for the instructions for the old climbing walls wereheaps of our crew members went. But I didn't wont to go on the old ones so I stayed on the fancy ones .Then it was time to go to one of my favourite activites Skateland I was so excited.

When we got there we listen to the instructions before skated. We all got sent of to go and skate one at a time . We were skating around. Then we heard a weard noise. But it was just time to play a game. It was a littel bit easy because we have played before. The game was like this. You hear three nosies. One means jump the other means tern around. There is one more it means drop on the floor.

when we were playing it was funny because some people were going the wrong way and we were all falling. When we finished we just started skating around. Then we got to play another game I was so excited. The game we played was limbo. It was so fun. Tevita came first in limbo. Straight after that we did races. First it was the girls tern to race. The man said ready steady go. We all went as fast as we could. At the end Hillary came first. Then it was the boys tern they all went very fast. But Tevita Came first. We were all tired.

When we went back to school we did orienteering. We were going round and round in circle. When we finished we ended up with only ten words. After that we went for a swim it was so cool. When we got back we started on our team item our one was a Little bit funny. Then went to go get ready for the movie. I was so excited

My holiday

In the holidays I went to the beach with my cousins and aunties and uncles. It was so cool. We went to Kaho Bay.

First we went to the playground. It was so cool on the flying fox. My cousin and I really liked it. Then we went for a swim.

After that we played mud fights with this gooey sand in the sea. My cousin Sefa and I had to go against my cousins Athena and Nuu. My cousin got me in the face. It was yucky and gooey so we ran and tried to catch her.

Then my little cousins tried to jump in so we ran to the deep side so that they couldn't play. They told my Nana, so my Nana told us to come back.

Later on we all came out to get something to eat and drink. We ate sandwhiches and drank L&P.

Softball competition

Yesterday during extension group was I was at a softball tournament.

We had five games . We won our first game but we lost our second game.

In the third game I was watching. It was so good. At the end of that game we had some lunch because everyone was very hungry.

We played two more games and we won those. Then we went to find out who came first our pans were sweating.

It was Glen Innes Primary and we came second.

Our coach was very proud of us.
